We had the very special opportunity to spend time with Rabbi Doron Perez. We were going to be doing a special Hachnasas Sefer Torah for his son Daniel HYD in Nachal Oz that evening and he offered to spend some time with us showing us how his two sons, Yonatan and Daniel fought on October 7th.
First we stopped off in Kibbutz Saad, where a new Pina Chama had been dedicated in honor of Daniel Perez and Rose Lubin. These were both soldiers who died defending the Jewish people from murderers and terrorists.
We then travelled with Rabbi Perez to the road to Nachal Oz base where his son Yonatan was travelling on the morning of October 7th to help others and was miraculously saved when his gun jammed. From there he went to the based and fought for hours until he was shot in this thigh. He was able to recover and et married 10 days later, while his brother Daniel, was thought to be a hostage in Gaza.
We then drove down the road to the Nachal Oz base to see the last battle of Daniel Perez. Rabbi Perez showed us himself the last battle and the incredible decisions made by his son which ended us saving hundreds of lives from the kibbutz of Nachal Oz which he was protecting.
